Join us on a pilgrimage through the Italian Baroque as we explore the sonic palate of these great masters. Caldara's Crucifixus paints in sound a poignant image of the Crucifixion in this ravishing work for sixteen voices. Contralto Kirsten Sollek is featured in Vivaldi's sublime Stabat Mater, preceded by Palestrina's lyrical double-chorus setting of the same text. Francesco Scarlatti's Miserere receives its American premiere in this performance featuring the "warmth and depth of feeling" (Gramophone) and "lush, seamless blend" (The New York Times) of our acclaimed St. Ignatius ensemble.
7 pm Pre-concert organ recital by Nancianne Parrella Works of Bach, Walther, Martini, Gabrieli and more.
